The axis of the universe (1)
At exactly nine o’clock every morning, I sip a cup of bitter coffee and go on at length criticizing those who drink their coffee with milk or sugar. When will they realize that coffee is an imperative act founded on individuality, not a description to which something is added to explain it?
Two friends two men sat in front of me and spoke loudly about a woman’s clothing, then about her ability to work, and then about the inheritance she deserves. I was forced to drink another cup of bitter coffee without uttering a single word.
When the conversation ended, he surprised me with a sudden question: Are you for or against…
I didn’t hear the rest or rather, I chose to ignore it.
“I am for the idea that a woman alone has the right to speak about her own affairs,” I confronted them with that opening.
